This week, insulin maker Eli Lilly enters the device market with announcements of a diabetes “ecosystem," including a new automated insulin pump and advanced pens.

Stacey talks to Lilly's Dr. Howard Wolpert & Marie Schiller who both have substantial personal connections to type 1. They talk about why the company made this move, what the tech is all about and yes, Stacey brings up the price of insulin.

In our Shoptalk segment, did you know the American Diabetes Association has someone dedicated to type 1? You’ll hear from Paul Madden, a longtime advocate who's lived with type 1 for 55 years.

We also talk to The Diabetes Scholars Foundation's Mary Podjasek about and college scholarships for students with type 1.

He's lived with type 1 for more than 56 years and was one of the first people ever to use an insulin pump and later a CGM. In fact, Yerachmiel Altman was one of the first people to make the switch from two shots a day to what we now call multiple daily injections (MDI) almost 40 years ago. Altman is an engineer and computer scientist who worked for d-tech companies. Now, he wants to help educate kids and adults about living with type 1 through books and games.

We talk about "The Moose and the Pump," "I Can Help Take Care of Me," and Altman's concept for a board game, Insulinopoly. He also shares the changes he's seen in technology over the years and his hope for the future.

Also this week, Noah’s March is at an end. We first met this family when they set off from florida to Washington, crossing the country for diabetes awareness and to raise money for research.

Plus, if you're thinking about those New Year’s resolutions, find out how Diabetes Strong can help you start 2018 off in a great way.

How can Disney math - the kind that helps you wait less and do more in the parks - help people with diabetes? This week, Stacey talks to Len Testa and Dr. Bradley Eilerman to find out.

Testa is the brain power behind Touring Plans, The Unofficial Guides to Walt Disney World, Disneyland and Disney Cruise Line and co-host of the podcast, The Disney Dish. He and Dr. Eilerman have created an app called GlucosePath using Disney "best way around the park" algorithms, to help an endocrinologist prescribe the correct medication for people with diabetes. Right now, GlucosePath is focused on people with type 2 diabetes.

Also this week, find out about a brand new partnership with Know Foods. Stacey explains their new role with the show and why her doctor recently recommended she try eating gluten-free.
